![]() ![]() If your 10g-application has been installed on an 11g database without doing the extra config, you will get the following error ORA-24248: XML DB extensible security not installed The extra configuration needed is known as Access Control Lists (ACL), which can be viewed as policy-rules stored in the XML DB. This means, that after moving your application from 10g to 11g, packages like UTL_MAIL, UTL_TCP and UTL_SMTP (amongst others) will not work without some extra configuration. As of Oracle 11g, the security on using built-in packages to access the network from the database has been improved.
